Tom is now back from Tattersalls Book 2. As we said on Wednesday, it was a very strong sale, but we were successful on an Invincible Spirit colt yesterday which despite his high price tag, Ed and Tom think is very good value.

"A real scopey horse that should make up into a later two-year-old and a really nice three-year-old. Full brother to a winner."

Ed Sackville

COMMENT

"Invincible Spirit has had his best ever year, so despite his price this good walking colt looks very good value. The stud we bought him from raised multiple G1 winner Moonlight Cloud, who is also by Invincible Spirit."

"Whipper's aren't that popular which is why she's cheap, but we've had black type success with a Whipper before in Switcher. I think she sold at the wrong sale and would have made more if she'd sold in October. A very fair price."

Time: 16:23 Friday 17 August

Location: Deauville

Our bloodstock agent, Ed Sackville, is currently based in Deauville in preparation for the Arqana sale which takes place from the 18th to the 21st of August. Tom will be joining Ed on Saturday evening after Brown Panther attempts to win his first Group race in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury that afternoon.

There are 464 yearlings in this year's Arqana August catalogue, so there is plenty of homework for Ed to do before the opening day tomorrow!

Click here to view the online Arqana catalogue and pick your own future superstars! This year's sale includes freshman sires Sea The Stars, Mastercraftsman, Fastnet Rock, Le Havre, Soldier Of Fortune, Naaqoos and Myboycharlie, where the focus of everyone's attention will understandably be the seven yearlings in the catalogue by Sea The Stars, the pick of which may be the half sister to Canford Cliffs.
