"Very straightforward and tough looking. This is the sort of horse I can see us running a lot and having plenty of fun with. Musical Valley cost a similar amount last year and is a winner."

Ed Sackville

COMMENT

"Strong and forward looking with a great attitude and such a lovely temperament. Firebreak had a group 1 winning two-year-old in Heart's Of Fire."

"This is a very athletic colt by a stallion who we know can get runners. Being an early foal he is sure to be running near the beginning of the season."

Such was the strength of the market, we were unable to secure any purchases on the 2nd day of Book 1, but on the 3rd and final day we did manage to pick up two very good value yearlings that have plenty going for them.

"This colt was very active and his mother won as a two-year-old and was third in a Group 3. He could be one for the Tattersalls Millions two-year-old races next year."

Ed Sackville

COMMENT

"This colt has a very good pedigree and we bought him from a very good farm. He walks well, is correct, and looks like a two-year-old."

"This February foal is well grown and looks like a sharp, early, two-year-old type. The dam is a half sister to the sire Trans Island."

Ed Sackville

"The only Teofilo we bought last year, Viola D'Amour, was a winner first time out, and this good walking filly looks even more precocious. She is sure to make a two-year-old."

The first day at Tattersalls saw a remarkably strong market with the average up 48% at 151,000gns and the median up 52% at 100,000gns. What recession?! We managed to cherry pick one horse from the sale, a lovely bay filly by Zamindar at a bargain price...

"A very eyecatching filly with plenty of speed in the pedigree. She is a May foal so we'll give her some time."

Ed Sackville

"Zamindar has an outstanding record as a sire of fillies. He has had five group 1 winning fillies, including unbeaten Arc winner Zarkava. This is a strong good walking specimen."

A busy day at Tattersalls at Fairyhouse on day one of the two-day sale. Last year we bought Viola D'Amour, Bear Behind and Marford Missile at this sale, where the average purchase price is around €20,000 and bargains can often be found. "He's a very good moving horse that is not going to be a very early two-year-old, but he'll be a mid-summer onwards horse who wants at least 7f. I think that of all the Mount Nelson's I saw at this sale, he was the nicest."

Ed Sackville

COMMENT

Tom is now back in the UK having attended the Arqana August sale. Tom and Ed made one purchase, on the Thursday; an Elusive City filly that qualifies for owners' premiums in France. COMMENT

"She reminded me very much of a horse we had called The Legal Blonde which is partly why I liked her so much. Although we bid on a few at the sale, she was the only won which came in within our budget, and as she qualifies for the Premiums I think she looks like being good value."

Ed Sackville

COMMENT

"An attractive filly by a stallion who gets plenty of two-year-old winners. With her French Bred Premiums I'd be disappointed if she didn't earn a decent amount of prize money."
